Hi and welcome to my blog. Like many another, my interest has been revived in sewing. Japanese zakka and sewing books have inspired me to try out my own ideas and I've put them in this blog to let you you see how I get on.
I'm really interested in sharing info and ideas with you so feel free to comment and share. I'll endeavour to add some tutorials when I figure things out. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Can't believe it's 10th August already! Balck Market went OK, thanks to those who bought and anyone who visited. All quiet at the moment on the sewng front, but casting around for new ideas. Have sent for two Japanese sewing books and I will review these when they arrive.
I've been busy getting ready for the black market(see previous post) on Sunday. Here are two of my new bags; a stiped number and another denim version with leather handles all ready to be stitched on.
I shall be at the Black Market (held in the Black Box, Hill Street, Belfast) on Sunday 1st August, noon - 5 pm. You can see me there with my bags etc., accompanied by Lyn with art and cards and more.
This afternoon I sewed a shopping bag in lovely bright fabric - my answer to all those plastic bags! With leather handles and french seams it will last for ages. Not one of the 'keep it in your handbag' types but a bag for serious grocery shopping or for general carting stuff about.
Zakka refers to a craze in Japan and around. Makes for the house or yourselves with a kitchy or cute feel, a western or scandinavian influence. There is a mass of Japanese craft magazines and books available on the net. This is the background to my inspriation for sewing projects.
Welcome to my blog. Sewing zakka is all about handmadestuff i.e. sewing and any other handcrafts I take a notion to do. I'll post some photos later in the week and also let you know where you can see my work for yourselves.
